FSATP – CELEBRATING 70 YEARS (1948 – 2018)
In 1948, a small group of non-certified accountants from Dade County banded together to protect the right to practice their profession honorably and without prejudice. This group, at that time, was known as the Florida Public Bookkeepers and Tax Consultants. It was interested in raising its standards of professionalism. It then changed its name to the Florida Accountants Association and became affiliated with the National Society of Public Accountants.
Over the years the name has been many:
- Florida Public Bookkeepers and Tax Consultants
- Florida Accountants Association – FAA
- Florida Association of Independent Accountants – FAIA
- Florida Society of Accounting & Tax Professionals – FSATP
A few years ago, the legal name remained the same (Florida Society of Accounting & Tax Professionals) but a fictitious name was used (Florida Society of Accountants – FSA). After using FSA for a short time, the board of directors decided to go back to the legal name of Florida Society of Accounting & Tax Professionals to include a broader base of membership throughout the state.
Throughout the years the name may have changed but the Florida Society of Accounting & Tax Professionals (FSATP) has continued to work to protect the right to practice and to raise the standards of accountants and tax professionals throughout the state of Florida.
FSATP IS THE AFFILIATED STATE ORGANIZATION (ASO)
